I feel the use of sexual appeal in adverting is dependent on ones territory, cultural and level of intellectual exposure.

Hmmm I suppose we can't adequately analyse our desicion making process. It's all about dear Dr. Fraud i.e. our subconsciousness. And sex as one of the main human's need has a big influence.
This ad is certainly striking :)

Quite strange scepticism for marketer. Or you are loyal to PR? =)
And one more thing about sex in advertising. Who defines what is sexual and what is not? I mean who can clearly draw a kine between appropriate and inapproriate content. I think it depends on national culture and mentality.

But then what makes? Humour? No! I doubt that ads make people to buy products at all. Ads struggle to get as much attention as possible. And probably I can paraphrase the famous sentence "all is fair in advertising and war"

Sex in advertising is one of the ways to attract people attention. But, I think, sexual adverts don't make people buy product.
